Hurricane Alma
Hurricane Alma hit El Transito as well as the entire coast line to Porto Sandino. Like other small towns, El Transito was hit pretty hard. Many people are still without roofs.
Individual Aid Program
On April 1st, 8 new groups started working for their community. There are 2 groups planting and maintaining trees around the town. The other 6 are in charge of cleaning the Health Center, the school, and the roads.
El Transito has Internet
In January, NICA installed an internet connection at El Transfer Restaurant across the street from the public school in down town El Tránsito. In February, NICA installed a wireless router to the connection to spray signal to the school.
ENECAL
On May 21, ENECAL took over the well for El Transito. They made many promises about installing new lines and meters for the residents who own pools. NICA is hopeful that ENECAL will provide better service to the residents of the town for a fair price.
