How We Plan To Help

Our Approach

Unlike many charitable organizations, NICA believes in giving opportunities, not gifts. In all our work, we are committed to helping communities become the agents of their own transformation.

NICA provides resources that benefit the entire community as opposed to select individuals. This approach enables resources to go further and builds a cycle of community prosperity and individual pride. When we offer benefits to individuals or families, NICA requires that recipients give back to the community in some way.

NICA has no religious, political or other affiliations. Many religious organizations provide aid to impoverished communities in Nicaragua, and many have started religion-based schools, which have become very popular. NICA applauds the positive impact of these organizations, while also recognizing that people may feel disenfranchised and communities divided because of the agendas of different aid organizations. As an independent organization, NICA seeks to unite rather than divide.

An Efficient Organization

NICA is extremely efficient in our capital expenditures and employment of minimal staff. We anticipate that the entire overhead burden of NICA will not exceed 10% in the early stages of our development, including administration, legal, accounting and marketing, and overhead is expected to drop below 15% as donation levels increase through greater awareness of NICA.

NICA has defined objectives and a detailed business plan for achieving fundraising objectives. We will target large foundations, government agencies (such as USAID) and businesses that will benefit from the prosperous development of Nicaragua. This approach will enable NICA to minimize fundraising costs that are much higher for other charitable organizations.
