NICA believes in the power of individuals to make a difference!

Through a reciprocal community based program in El Transito, NICA works with dedicated university students on targeted projects to increase the sustainability of the community.

NICA’s short-term internships differ from other programs by utilizing student skill sets over a two-week period. Focus on a student’s individual interests and expertise enables a fulfilling global experience in a developing community. The student will plan, develop, execute or participate in a project designed around NICA’s mission: to empower Nicaragua through community development, helping the country become more self-sufficient and a greater participant in the global economy.

Current projects include:

Participants live in a communal setting designed to bring full awareness and understanding of El Transito. The total cost of the program is $1000. Room, board and three meals a day are included in the two week program.
